Washington Memorial Chapel

Washington Memorial Chapel is a pencil drawing by artist Nicholas Santoleri.

The Chapel is located in Valley Forge National Park is a national memorial dedicated to General George Washington and an active Episcopal parish in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.  Architect Milton B. Medary, designed the building. On the 125th anniversary of the evacuation of the Continental Army from Valley Forge, June 19,1903, the cornerstone was laid on property. The Chapel’s exterior was completed in 1917 and its interior in 1921. It serves as a wayside chapel to those who visit Valley Forge National Historical Park, and welcomes visitors from all over the world.

From the visitor’s perspective the Chapel, may appear to be a part of the park. However, the Chapel and surrounding property belong to the Episcopal Church. Across Port Kennedy Road from the Chapel sits the builder’s model of the Washington Monument.

Valley Forge Park has been the subject of many paintings and prints by Santoleri over the past 35 years.

The original pencil drawing was reproduced on acid free, 100 lb. fine art paper. These reproductions may be matted in a standard size mat opening and therefore a standard size frame (framing information).
