Independence Hall 3

Painting in Progress – Independence Hall at Independence National Historic Park

This painting was done in conjunction with the 2008 Artists in the Park program at Independence National Historic Park. Nick was honored to be invited to participate in this unique program which allows artists to draw and paint on the grounds of the park and gives them access to the historic buildings, gardens and sites in the park.

Limited Edition Prints commissioned by “Friends of Independence National Historic Park” for the purpose of reselling or fundraising. When I started this piece I was given the rare opportunity to walk around Independence Hall and have access to parts of the building that most people never to see. As a former Stone Mason it was fascinating to see how the building was constructed in the 1700’s. I’ve learned that being about to walk around in the building (or in the case of the Kalmar Nyckel the boat) it allows me to fall in love with the architecture and gives the painting an extra element of passion that piece painted with only a photograph as reference will always lack.
